The National Police have arrested two males, aged 28 and 30, in Elche on suspicion of confining, tying up, and stabbing another man aged 29, with a knife. The victim had two stab wounds to the neck and twelve stab wounds to the belly, causing perforation of the small intestine and liver, as well as bruising throughout his body.
The event came to light after local authorities discovered a badly injured guy in a single-family home in the city.
According to a statement from the Provincial Police Station, by the time National Police officers arrived on the scene, the victim had already been transported to the General Hospital due to his severe injuries.
The two suspects were present at the house, and they attempted to rationalise what happened by alleging that the injured man suffered from a mental disorder and had self-harmed.
According to his story, he was tied up to save him from injuring himself further. However, the justifications were contradictory and inconsistent with the facts discovered during the police inspection. Investigators discovered apparent traces of violence, pieces of bloody adhesive tape, and a shattered window from the inside, indicating that the victim attempted to flee.
A check of the home also turned up a big knife with a slightly bent blade, which could have been used in the attack.
Officers from Elche Police Station’s Violent Crime Unit arrested the two men on accusations of unlawful detention and attempted murder after gathering all of the evidence.
According to the same source, the sufferer, who had been in the hospital for several days, has been discharged after making good progress with his serious injuries.
