33 stolen cars and two motorcycles recovered before being shipped to Morocco

As part of an operation that has been going on for the past two months, the Guardia Civil has recovered 33 cars and two stolen motorcycles from the port of Tarifa. These vehicles were about to be placed onto ships heading to Morocco.

The Fiscal Section of the Algeciras Command undertook the operation, which led to the arrest of five persons and the investigation of another 30 people who are suspected of committing offences related to stealing and receiving automobiles.

The cars that were found had been stolen in Spain, many EU nations (France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and the Netherlands), Switzerland, and the UK. They had been altered to avoid border checks.

The cars that were taken include two Mercedes AMG G63s, an Audi RS Q8, two Audi RS Q3s, and two Range Rover Sports. Most of them are almost new and are worth about 1.5 million euros.

During the investigation, police also found a vehicle carrying five stolen electric scooters and three stolen electric bicycles from France, worth more than 10,000 euros. The driver of an Audi RS4 was arrested after it was discovered that they had stolen someone’s identity to pay for the car.

Apparently, officers found four other cars outside the dock area that were apparently ready to be shipped to Morocco. The judicial authorities have been given the case file and the detainees. The owners are being contacted to arrange for the return of the items that were taken.
