Guardia Civil dismantles group growing marijuana in Torre Pacheco

According to a statement from the Guardia Civil, they carried out Operation “Grumbu” in Torre Pacheco (Murcia), which led to the arrest of a criminal organisation that was growing a lot of marijuana in a property in the municipality.

The agents have taken apart the infrastructure that was meant for growing a lot of marijuana. They have also taken more than 1,500 plants and buds and all the other things that are usually used to grow the narcotic.

The operation started last year when police from the Citizen Security Prevention team looked into a number of signs that marijuana was being grown in Torre Pacheco.

The Guardia Civil’s first steps took them to a residence in the Pacheco area of Roldán, where they set up a surveillance operation. This allowed them to confirm that the house had a lot of high-tech security features and personal surveillance, which made their task harder.

The officers learnt how the criminal gang worked and found proof that there was a marijuana growing business inside the residence. They also found out who the three persons heading it were.

The Guardia Civil has finished the operational phase of the operation, which involved about fifty officers from different fields.

The Guardia Civil arrested three members of the criminal group during the search. They were accused of being part of a criminal group, growing and processing drugs, and stealing electricity. The last charge was based on evidence of an illegal connection to the electrical network that powered the whole installation.

The detectives found that the property was completely used for drug trafficking. Some rooms were set up as a huge greenhouse for growing cannabis, while others were used to dry the substance and then package it.

The Guardia Civil found more than 1,500 marijuana plants in different stages, like growing or drying, and another 500 grammes of marijuana buds. They took all the things that made up the greenhouse, like lights, heaters, irrigation systems, and fans, as well as the things that were used to handle and package the marijuana.

The detectives also took the car that was utilised to help run the plantation and then move the drugs.

The gang were in the last stage of making drugs, and at the same time, they were packing up a prior crop to send out.
