The National Police made a big arrest yesterday, Tuesday Janaury 20th, of a man who is said to have been involved in radicalisation processes in jihadist terrorism in Cartagena.
The National Court and the General Information Commissariat are also looking into offences related to jihadist radicalisation. They arrested a woman in Ferrol for her apparent ties to jihadism. The operation lasted for several hours and took place in a building in the Recimil neighbourhood.
The police operation started early on Tuesday morning and was mostly focused on a social housing block at number 4 Calle Ortigueira in the Galician municipality. Specialised officers meticulously searched the flat and removed numerous boxes of items for further investigation.
Around 11:40 a.m., the operation was over. The person who had been arrested was taken out of the premises and put in a police car.
The detainee is expected to be moved to Madrid so that the National Court, which is in charge of this type of investigation, can take care of them.
The police units’ appearance surprised the people of Recimil throughout the operation.
People in the vicinity claim that patrols are frequent, but the size of the deployment and the presence of plainclothes officers and intervention units made it a strange day in the Ferrol neighbourhood.
