According to National Police sources, a 19-year-old male died on Friday, January 16th, at Playa de San Juan, Alicante, after allegedly choking while eating a piece of fruit.
At around 2:45 p.m., the police were called to report the incident. After that, officers were sent to the area, where there was also a local police patrol.
The young man’s death was eventually confirmed despite emergency personnel’ best efforts to revive him. It seems that he was eating a piece of fruit and strolling with pals in a public place when the tragedy happened.
Furthermore, in the Murcian district of Valladolises, a 9-year-old girl choked to death on Saturday, January 17th.
According to emergency personnel, the child who passed away had “a picture of asphyxiation due to choking and could not breathe.”
The family members reportedly started the transfer to the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital on their own, but they were compelled to pull over when they noticed the kid was losing consciousness.
This happened close to the Region of Murcia International Airport entrance on the A30 road.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was attempted to save the girl by Guardia Civil personnel and an ambulance from the 061 Emergency and Urgent Healthcare Service. Through its official channels, the Region of Murcia’s 112 Emergency Coordination Centre stated that “despite the efforts made, the minor died at the scene.”
At 8:40 p.m., the call was received by the 112 emergency service. The caller informed them of a very dangerous situation and asked for aid.
Suggestions
The Regional Government offers a number of suggestions in reaction to these kinds of regrettable occurrences. To determine whether choking is a life-threatening situation, first encourage the person to cough; if they are unable to speak or cough and their breathing is impaired, their life is in jeopardy.
